Etched Glass
Etched Glass can be very pretty. It is based on the fact that a hydrofluoric acid solution with eat away the surface of glass and leave a roughened area that reflects light differently. By controlling the strength of the acid, the time of exposure, and the temperature, the artist can achieve different effects.
Now that air compressors are cheap and available sand blasting is used to produce similiar effects. However, sand blasting lets you create three dimensional effects you can't gt with acid.
